One Small Thing

Terms of Service

Effective 5 September 2026

These terms cover your use of One Small Thing ("the app"), an iOS application published by Beijing Zhang Liang World Technology Co., Ltd. ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The app is short, and so are these terms. There is nothing hidden in them.

1. What the app is

The app suggests one activity at a time — something you could go and do — and lets you record what you did. It runs entirely on your device. There is no account to create, no server to connect to, and no online service behind it. If our website goes away tomorrow, the app on your phone keeps working exactly as before.

2. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement applies to your use of the app, and where it conflicts with these terms, it prevails.

You may not copy, resell, sublicense or redistribute the app or its content library, decompile or reverse engineer it except to the extent that law expressly permits, or remove or obscure any notices in it. The app, its content library and its design are ours and remain ours.

3. Who may use it

The App Store rates the app 12+. Regardless of that rating, you must be at least 13 years old, and old enough under the law where you live, to agree to these terms.

4. Purchases

The app is free to download and includes a portion of the activity library. A single one-time in-app purchase unlocks the full library, including entries added in later updates. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Nothing recurs and nothing renews.

All payment is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment details. Prices are set per storefront and shown to you before you confirm. Because the unlock is tied to your Apple ID rather than to an account with us, you can restore it on your other devices from within the app.

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. We cannot issue, approve or reverse a refund. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Statutory rights of withdrawal or cancellation in your country still apply and are exercised through Apple.

5. Your data

We collect nothing. Everything the app records stays in a local database on your device. See the Privacy Policy for the detail. One practical consequence is worth stating here: we hold no backup of your records. If you delete the app, reset your device, or clear your data in Settings → Data, that data is gone and we cannot restore it. Export it first if you want to keep it.

6. Suggestions are suggestions

The activities in the app are ideas, not advice. They are not medical, psychological, financial, legal or safety advice, and the app is not a treatment for boredom, low mood or anything else. Some suggestions involve leaving the house, physical effort, cooking, or spending money.

You decide whether a suggestion is appropriate for you, and you do it at your own risk. Use your judgement about your own health, ability, budget, surroundings and local law, and skip anything that is not right for you — the app is built so that skipping costs you nothing. If you are struggling with your mental health, please talk to a qualified professional or a local support service; this app is not one.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use the app to do anything unlawful, and do not attempt to interfere with it or with our website. There is nothing to break into — there is no account and no server — but this is stated for completeness.

8. No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular suggestion will suit you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you actually paid for it — which for most people is zero, and at most is the price of the one-time unlock.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Any claim that the app fails to conform to a warranty should be directed to us, at the address below, not to Apple.

11. Changes

We may update these terms — for example if the app gains a feature that needs one. The effective date at the top always shows the current version, and material changes will be noted in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Termination

You may end this agreement at any time by deleting the app. We may end it if you breach these terms. Sections 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 13 survive termination.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China (mainland), without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts with jurisdiction over Beijing shall hear any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country where you live, or of your right to bring proceedings there.

14. Contact
